Surf World Gold Coast opened in June 2009.  It is a not-for-profit incorporated association and has been granted DGR (deductible gift recipient) and ITEC (income tax exemption charity) status.  Surf World is operated entirely by a group of dedicated volunteers and is managed by a Committee.  The Committee is represented by collectors,  photographers, industry, education, tourism, council and community. 

Through our extensive displays of the rich history of surfing culture the museum attracts visitors who just want to enjoy the exhibition and/or reflect on their pasts and students who want to learn about the evolution of surfing – its culture and recreation.
