Surf World Gold Coast is inviting surfboard manufacturers, graphic artists and schools to submit entries for an upcoming exhibition planned to open on September 3rd titled The Art of Surfing.

Graphic art and murals have long been a feature on surfboards and it is not often these creators of original artwork are given the opportunity to display  their talents.

From the early 1900s’  when surfers painted or burnt their names on their boards to the1940s’and1950s’ when images of girlfriends, Marilyn Monroe or barber pole stripes were in vogue, to the psychodelia of the 70s’ and 80s’ and the computer generated art of today, the surfboard has been a palette for artists. This exhibition will give them the venue to showcase their work.

The exhibition will be open to both existing and new works so entries will be accepted from all decades. Available space will limit the display to approximately 50 boards so interested exhibitors should advise of their intention to participate as early as possible. A three month lead-in time has been allowed for the preparation of new works.

Entry forms are available from the Museum at Level 1/ 35 Tomewin St, Currumbin Ph55256380 or Download Here > Entry Form
